Yesterday
I observed dying and dead Bees and Bumble Bees during my bike rides to Lake Morp in Erkrath since ca. 2000 - and I revived weakened bees which came into our sitting room by a swab with honey etc... (dali48)

They will be emerging from tiny holes in the ground, usually in areas of sandy compacted soil, in parks, playing fields and around the roots of trees. They are quite distinctive little bees; easily recognisable by their foxy coloured thorax and 'scopa' (branched hairs for collecting pollen) on their hind legs. The other noticeable thing is that the pollen they collect on their scopa at this time of year usually comes from Goat Willow...and has a very distinctive lemon yellow colour.
