12.07.2010 – Interpretation of dali48 + update
It is clear that psychology can not answer the question of the ego clearly and simply. - It therefore only remains to ask the brain researchers who often have loudly reported and interfered in recent years! ...
The response of many (though not all) brain researcher to the question whether it is an ego, is: "No. There is no ego. - David Hume and Ernst Mach were absolutely right: The ego is an illusion!"…
Even the famous anatomist Rudolf Virchow had his fun in the 19th Century in driving out the ego of the philosophers, when he said: "I have dissected 1000s of corpses, but I have nowhere found a soul!” ...
No well-known philosopher of the last 200 years has ever claimed that the ego is a material substance in the brain! ...
What Sacks could only describe more than 20 years ago, has since been investigated many times. - Many brain researchers tend to believe it, that it is not an ego, but many different states of ego! ...
Already in the early embryo is created, the limbic system. After birth, the brain enters into contact with the outside world and will be totally revolutionized again! ...
With the disenchantment of the ego it is such a thing. - When Copernicus proved that the earth turns around the sun, he discovered a previously unknown fact! - The old notion of the earth as the center of the universe was definitely wrong! - As Darwin suggested that all living beings have evolved from primitive ancestors, and also man makes no exception to this, he clearly described a fact! ...
Is the observation not already enough that we feel that it is an ego? - "One is individual," the sociologist Niklas Luhmann writes, "simply as the claim to be it. And that is enough." - The same sentence could probably also be said on the ego! ...
From comprehensive elucidation of our "ego-state" brain research is still miles away, - or more precisely decades away, if it ever will succeed at all. - For if the monitoring of simple emotions, was the moon landing of brain research, so the travel to the ego is at least a manned trip to Jupiter's. - A journey of which we so far can hardly imagine what we will encounter ... (R. D. Precht)

Wikipedia

Furthermore, since the conferment of past prizes did not, in his opinion, represent equally writers of all ideologies and nations, - he felt that his acceptance might be undesirably and unjustly interpreted. - Mr. Sartre closed his remarks with a message of affection to the Swedish public ... (J. P. Sartre, Announcement 1964)

Wikipedia

Sartre's existentialism may be understood in the sense that the degree of happiness which an individual can hope to attain, - is governed by his willingness to take his stand in accordance with his ethos, and to accept the consequences hereof! - This is a more austere interpretation of a philosophy admirably expressed - by Nobel's contemporary, R.W. Emerson: "Nothing is at last sacred, - only the integrity of your own mind!" ... (S. Friberg, Caroline Institut)

In his philosophical view atheism is taken for granted, - the "loss of God" is not mourned. - Man is condemned to freedom, a freedom from all authority, which he may seek to evade, distort, and deny - but which he will have to face if he wants to become a moral being. - The meaning of man's life is not established before his existence. - Once the terrible freedom is acknowledged, man must make his meaning himself to a role in this world, and must live his freedom! - And this attempt to make oneself is futile without the "solidarity" of others! ...
They (see Le Mur, La Nausée) dramatically express Sartre's early existentialist themes of alienation and commitment, - and of salvation through art! ... (J. P. Sartre, Biography 1964)
