"Noble 8-fold path" to salvation: 
Avoids both the extreme of self-surrender to the desires - and the extreme of self-torture ...
The 4 Noble Truths:
All life is suffering ("samsara"), the endless cycle of rebirths involving the types of suffering (addiction, desire, ignorance), the cessation of suffering (salvation, liberation from "samsara", see "nirvana") and the way to end the suffering ("the noble 8-fold path") ...
Doctrine of the "non-ego":
There is no soul, no lasting, constant, imperishable "ego or self", but only a fleeting, short-lived grouping of 5 elements: 
Physical form, sensation, perception, emotion and consciousness ... (Buddha)
