In every human being who has been beaten as a child - there seems to be a murderous rage... (A. Lowen)
Bill was determined not to go mad (to let his rage out)... - Bill (psychiatrist) was just as afraid of the potential madness in himself as of the madness in others ("Now I know why I became a psychiatrist")... - It is interesting that psychopathic murderers are often referred to as "nice" or "friendly" people... - by those who know them in their daily lives - This is the façade they offer to hide their feelings, but it increases the tendency to explode... - If the overwhelming feeling is not pleasurable, the feeling of alienation can be very frightening. We can be overwhelmed by both grief... - joy, hatred, and love... - The resulting disorientation can seem like a nightmare, one of which you never will awake. One has lost contact with reality, and there are no more proportions... - If someone uses violence against one, one has the right to apply violence too (see "self-defense" etc. - d.48)... - Without the right to strike back when you are beaten, you feel powerless and humiliated. We have seen what impact this can have on the personality... - In spite of the great freedom (up to 6 years - d.48) granted to the young children, or just because of it, Japanese children are known for their good behavior, obedience and respect for parents... - Punishments may have their place in child-rearing, but in many cases they serve as a pretext for parents to release their oppressed rage and anger... - The real madness is not in releasing of oppressed feelings (screaming, roaring, violence, etc), but is in a frozen smile, in the pose of the "good" girl or boy, in the denial of feeling... - What the narcissist patients think crazy - namely, their anger, is actually healthy if they can accept it... - The mind is the energetic connection between soul and body...
One can use sound (see noise etc. - d.48) to break the will or the resistance, or even spread fear... - cause sensory deprivation...
We need stimulation. Too much stimulation can be as harmful as too little... - The protection from stimulus is for the living organism almost more important than the stimulation... (A. Lowen / S. Freud)
