10.04.1998 - Interpretation of dali48

Individual body parts play only a minor role in Zen. For example, the head is not emphasized - If something is generally important as a place, as a seat, then only the area around the navel, the abdomen - Let these sensations (in the head and in the spine) go through you, do not hold them, and do not try to repeat them - Only if you have no thing in mind and no mind in things then you are empty, and thus spiritually far and wonderful - Aren't we hungry in our modern world for "life" and "action"? - We get tired of the technical apparatuses that replace our hopes, love, sentiments - projected on the screen - We agree: we want us to be happy. It should concern you and me. But who has the courage to really live with oneself? - For Buddhism, there is nowhere something solid and permanent that could be described as matter or spirit. When matter determines the mind, the mind, conversely, determines matter, because to determine always means to be determined at the same time - Not my will has the breath, but body, mind and soul breathe - I discover in the function of breathing the boundlessness in the vibration of the breath - Then as now, life is an open space, not sacred - Zen is a very real thing. It gives a new feeling of life - it frees of restlessness and depression - If we do not flow, we hold on to what is already over - and we are no longer involved in what is... - When you live, you live, when you die, you die, nothing else - Everything is there, philosophy, morality, religion ...  (Prof. Takiochi, Kioto)
