11.12.2000 - Interpretation of dali48
We strive for happiness and well-being, but we are looking at the wrong place, because we strive for recognition and possession, for power and status, for safety and knowledge, and think that we find happiness there. - We want to have the fear of life in the grip. It can only be temporarily covered, - since all this can be lost at any time (and even life, only constant change and death are certain). - So we have to let go of what creates fear. - In a partner relationship it is the fear of loss. - Anything that minimizes anxiety can be lost - to the partner himself, for he can die from one day to the next, - and we ourselves, by the way, too. - We must let the other be as he is. - He is to let us just be as we are. - I let him be as he is without detracting or degrading him. - Letting go brings us and the partner into freedom. - But we do not want freedom but attachment (as presumed security). - In principle, no one can help the other in life, not even ones own mother. - Everyone has to go through the conflicts of life oneself. - One is ultimately alone ... (R. M. Rilke, partnership)
