Chernobyl nuclear power station: now and then... On 26 April 1986 the explosion unleashed more than 100 different radioactive elements in the atmosphere - The most dangerous ones because of its high half-life elements are: iodine (8 days), strontium-90 (29 years) and cesium137 (30 years)... Information on the range with more than 37,000 becquerels (Bq) per square meter long term contaminated soil surface between 146 000 and over 200,000 sq km... Since 1986 approximately 116 000 persons were evacuated
and resettled from the 30-kilometer zone around the reactor... Even today, in northern Germany, mushrooms, wild berries and wild animals are loaded - In the lean meat of wild boar was more than ten times the EU limit of 600 Bq/kg... On 12.05.2000 the Chernobyl power station was shut down (see Fukushima Accident 2011, etc. - d.48)... (ARTE, 5 / 2010)
