Sometimes this need for something greater or higher is very negative, - e.g. in the form of patriotism, and besides, traditions can become ossified...
The marmot bit the people who had a too rigid mindset and too many prejudices. - Whether you are in the "transit lounge" of an airport or sitting in the toilet, you really have to want to be there. - You have to dedicate entirely to this "being-there".
