Unreasonable way of life:
lack of physical activity, too little sleep, too many cigarettes, - irregular meals, frequent alcohol consumption, problems with relationships with partners, friends, colleagues, etc. - In the interest of physical and mental well-being, one must reduce professional or private tasks! Adult children of alcoholics have no clear idea, what is normal. - In a normal situation you need not always have to run an egg dance, - and you do not have to constantly question or suppress your feelings. Because you did that, you were also confused. - Lying is very basic for the family system affected by the alcohol. It comes partly as an obvious denial of unpleasant realities, as a cover-up, a failure to keep promise and unreliability. - There are very few people whom I show my feelings openly. I can feel myself destroyed inside, and when someone asks me, "How are you?" I say, "Good." - When I'm really honest, people look at me as if I were a stranger. - The result is that you have internalized this permanent criticism as a negative self-feeling.
Adult children of alcoholics have:
1 no clear notion, what is normal;
2 it is difficult for them to carry out a project from beginning to end;
3 lie, where it is so easy to tell the truth;
4 condemn themselves mercilessly;
5 It is hard for them to have fun!
6 take themselves too seriously!
