But not only the alcohol hurts the liver - Too much food, to eat fat, too much flavored food - also that is dangerous, i.e. a liver cure once a year, 3-4 weeks no alcohol! - Stop eating when it tastes best; Little fat (meat, sausage, cheese, etc.), only some butter; No salt and pepper, but herbs (chives, cress, dill, peppermint, marjoram); Nothing fried! - Eat only cooked and stewed food! - Lean veal, beef, chicken, fish, 1 soft boiled egg for breakfast, lots of rice instead of potatoes; Only crispbread, wholemeal bread and rusk; Yogurt, curd cheese, lean cheese; Fresh fruit, lots of strawberries; Natural fruit juices - Juniper and vermouth tea; Dandelion and radish juice; Warm footbaths (and handbaths, see M. Messegue - d.48) with hay flowers is good for liver and nerves; Onions with hot mashed potatoes on the liver...
Colds:
March / April and October / November; 3-4 weeks before, 7-day cure at home; do not smoke! - No liquor (alcohol, sharp), do not scream loudly, lots of fruit and salad, (many nuts - d.48), sanddorn juice, carrot juice, tin weed, Plantain, coltsfoot; Yogurt, curd cheese; 30 g olive oil + 30 g licorice powder + 15 g winestone + 180 g honey cooked, let it cool, 3 x per day 1/2 teaspoon of it in hot milk; 3 x daily 1 tbsp of coltsfool, thyme and tannin; 3 times a day gargle with herbal tea; In the morning a change-over shower (20-30 sec. hot, 5 sec cold etc.); Cold arm baths, but hot baths with cold feet! - In the evening hot steam baths with hay blossoms (chamomiles) and hot baths with spruce needles; Linden blossom tea; rub breast with thyme and eucalyptus oil before sleeping...
Short or farsightedness:
Eye exercises; Steam baths with chamomile, linseed, fennel, (spelled coffee, St. Hildegard)...
Rheumatism, tea and juice:
Birch, stinging nettle, coltsfoot, yarrow, louse tree; Fruit and vegetable juices; (Lime blossoms, lilac blossoms, chamomile), lukewarm shower, pack well, lie down for 2 - 3 hours (sleep); Light gymnastics in warm bath with hay flowers, oat grass, juniper oil...
Nervous exhaustion:
In the evening no longer eat much, especially nothing with fat; Valerian tea, after dinner 1/2 hour walk; Warm arm baths + melissa before sleeping; Morning change showers, respiratory exercises; Evening stepings in the water (Kneipp); Cold calf wraps (at night); Dry brushing; Siesta; In the evening warm bath + hop bath salt. Only in case of cardiac and circulatory weakness can the sauna be harmful... (L. Bernau)
