Jeanne Moreau is an actress, singer and French director, born January 23, 1928 in Paris, France. Her filmography includes demanding big names of European cinema, including Luis Buñuel, Theo Angelopoulos, Wim Wenders, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Michelangelo Antonioni, Joseph Losey and François Truffaut...

She was born in 1928. Her father was the manager of the brewery La Cloche d'or, at the corner of Rue Fontaine in Paris, while her English mother was a dancer. After having spent part of her childhood in Vichy, she completed her secondary education in Paris and began to follow, without the knowledge of her parents, theater classes of Denis d'Inès, then dean of the Comedie-Francaise. She entered six months later the Paris Conservatory...

In 1958, during the Cannes Film Festival - she met François Truffaut - preparing the film Jules and Jim and Henri-Pierre Roché, the author, who died soon after. Following the success of the film, she met Anaïs Nin who wants Jeanne Moreau to embody her heroine. The film is not made, but a strong friendship is born...

She went to California to play in a series of films, and at a party, Anais Nin presented her Henry Miller who once told her: "Above all, do not tell people whom you work with and that we're friends, your reputation would be damned..."

In 2003, Jeanne Moreau was the president of the jury of the International Festival Premiers Plans of Angers. She remained there the faithful godmother. Jeanne Moreau assured herself as artistic director of the festival, offering retrospectives in the following years (Louis Malle, Ingmar Bergman).
