Part 65... by Golden Snow

What can I say to help someone who maybe going through this misery. What can make you see that this is not the way things are. God will always bring the right people into our lives but we have to have the strength to walk away from the ones who treat us without respect. They come into our lives and play up to our weaknesses as a way to convince you that you need them in your life. They make you feel you are not smart enough to be on your own, that you are not talented enough, and need them to make up for what you are lacking. Please do not believe those lies! I know with little children depending on you this is a large task to take on. You will find the courage. We are empowered to choose a good life for the children and ourselves. One of the most beautiful things about being a human being on this earth is that we can choose our way. Maybe it is not always an easy path but maybe a better life lies ahead. I know it's easy to say move forward. It took all I had in me to step out of the cage of abuse, but the boys kept me moving forward. If you are reading this I encourage you that the best of your life is the moment you are in right now, so make use of it, and choose a happy path to travel...

We have to step out of the fear and not let it consume us. Fear is our enemy. We can become too dependent on others. We cannot use crutches when we know how to walk. Being caught in an abusive relationship, we'll find it hard to break out. We have been ruled with an iron hand, and the time will come when we have to stand up. I knew that the time ahead was going to be hard. But I felt good about it ... and continued to plan for the trip to New Brunswick...

We arrived in New Brunswick the next morning with a two hour wait-over in Toronto, and I was tired and got little sleep. Mrs Brown's brother was waiting at the station and walked over and introduced himself. He smiled. "She told me that you are blond and have two babies, so it was easy finding you." He helped me with Jacob and the suitcase, and we got into a fine looking car. The drive to Mrs Brown's was not long because she lived in Lock Lomand, a little ways outside of New Brunswick ... It was a suburb. The homes looked a lot alike. Mrs Brown met us at the door. She was so gentle looking, and her eyes lit up as they fell upon the boys. I had a good feeling that we would be good friends...
