He (writer) cannot but see that the power of religion, especially belief in revelation, is weaker today than it was in any other epoch in human history - More and more children grow up without faith (see eg Hans Küng, Global Ethic etc. - d.48)... - The genuine writer cannot ignore the fact that the family is losing its spiritual foundation...

No technological achievements can mitigate the disappointment of modern man (see Identity crisis? etc. - d.48), his loneliness (see in the mass of people etc. - d.48), his feeling of inferiority (compared with Superman etc. - d.48), and his fear of war, revolution and terror - Not only has our generation lost faith in providence but also in man himself - in his institutions (siehe "Banking Crisis" 2008 etc. - d.48), and in those who are nearest to him...

They (see people) hope against hope that the man of talent and sensitivity (see writers, artists, scientists etc. - d.48) can perhaps rescue civilization (they can only warn of fatal developments, see eg dying bees etc. - d.48)... - Maybe there is a spark of a prophet in the artist after all...  (I.B. Singer, Nobel L. 1978)
