One in two 65-year-old men is already suffering from a cardiovascular disease (see No.1 cause of death = 50%). It is connected with low incomes, - and poor housing and working conditions...
The heart beats from birth to death about 2.500.000.000 times. - About 9000 liters of blood are pumped daily into the veins...
Risk factors are: smoking, hypertension, occupational stress, high blood lipids (cholesterol) and obesity etc. (K. Langbein, Bitter Pills)
Causes of hypertension are: side effects of medications (glucocorticoids, pills, estrogen, etc), alcohol abuse, too much salt, obesity, physical inactivity, occupational stress (and also private stress etc. - d.48), smoking, disease (kidney, hormones etc)...
Treatment: adequate sleep, elimination of excessive demands, physical activity, endurance training, low-salt food etc.
The human body is 50-70% water. - Every day, take about 2.5 liters of water to yourself. - When the body absorbs too much liquid and is not eliminating enough, edema (fluid retention resulting in tissue) can result. This may be accompanied by high blood pressure and weight gain. Edema can be caused by disorders of the kidneys, heart, liver or drugs (phenylbutazone, etc)...
Therapy: physical rest and low-salt diet...
Angina pectoris (severe pain around the heart): A lot of rest and relaxation, reduction of overweight, and heavy meals, no smoking! Avoidance of stress, sudden effort, severe temperature changes...
In heart failure (see shortness of breath etc. - d.48) helps: Foxglove (digitalis), physical protection, low-salt diet, diuretics (see water, tea etc. - d.48)...
The older a person gets, the more "calcified" are the blood vessels. They lose their elasticity, harden and become narrow. This can lead to hypertension, stroke, heart attack and kidney disease. Main cause of atherosclerosis is a too high proportion of fat in the blood (cholesterol), etc. (K. Langbein, Bitter Pills)
Here are some other key facts from the 2024 report: There are 2,552 deaths from total cardiovascular disease (CVD) each day, based on 2021 data. On average, someone dies of CVD every 34 seconds in the U.S. There are about 1,905 deaths from heart disease, each day in the U.S., including heart attacks.24.01.2024
