"Om mani padme hûm" = 6-syllable Tibetan magic formula, maybe a prayer to manipadmâ (see "goddess" etc. - d.48). - Of all religions, Buddhism is the one which most strongly emphasizes the impermanence and meaninglessness of life: Everything is transitory - everything is without an independent being and therefore "suffering". - The believer disciple should strive to overcome depressing mental affections, and all passions (see jealousy, envy, hate, etc. - d.48) to gain unshakable mental clarity and sublime peace of mind without agonizing self-tormenting. - Buddhism - in contrast to the other world religions - never demanded that one belongs exclusively to it, and gives up to connect with other religions. - It regards all other doctrines as valuable precursors. - Above all, living in Zen means being aware of it, perceiving reality as it is - not how we think it to be in our mind and by emotions - and living according to this reality. - Who can refrain from his "ego" can be with the things and therefore even with himself. Mindfulness brings awareness, clarity, alertness, harmony and serenity - opening up the sources of joy of life. - Someone who is enlightened has a clear view of the reality of his own being and the state of our society. - Famine and political subjugation are the deepest causes of all wars. - A world war can break out at any moment. - A false alarm can lead to total panic. - Gandhi dressed simply, went by foot, and fed extremely simple. - The "avant-garde" of our generation are those who resolutely oppose the treadmill of production and consumption, and engage for a renewal of man's nature. - These communities of mindful life are shaped like Zen monasteries - but free from dogmatic fixations. - By this, people can be cured of the time illnesses - and gain new spiritual health ...
