30.10.1998 - Interpretation of dali48
The two most important aspects of understanding the "Tao" are:
1 That nothing that happens is ever repeated...
2 This huge, permanent change does not change itself. It is the original form of time, including being and nothingness (see life and death - d.48), the present, the future and the past. It is the great whole of the perpetual duration, boundless space and infinite change... (P. Rawson / L. Legeza)
Since the "Zen" directs the view beyond the symbols to the things themselves - it recognizes all our prejudices concerning color, sex and age, and all other cultural-conditioned dogmas as a pure human work - which does not belong to the nature of things... (S. W. Holmes / C. Horioka)
Zen = merging Buddhism and Taoism - Everything exists according to its own nature - Our individual perceptions of value, correctness, beauty and measure exist only in our head (i.e. the head has to be cleaned etc. - d.48)... - Man is a child of nature, and is best suited to working hand in hand with her instead of controlling her... - Safety and immutability are the chimera of consciousness dominated by the "ego" and do not exist in nature - To accept the uncertainty and surrender to the unknown produces a redeeming faith in "the whole"... - One can only live in the present moment... - The living event and the words about it are not the same and should not be treated equally...
Fields and mountains, the snow took them away. Nothing remains... ("Haiku" by Yosa)
But in all events there is no endlessly enduring unchanging soul - Do not bother with this idea! - Just give it space! - And then enjoy the peace it brings to you...
Rainy season! The entrance flooded, and frogs are splashing there... (Sampu)
The moon drifted into a cloud: Shouldn't I borrow a small juicy melon? (Shiki)
There is no "ego" in the sense of a perpetual, unchanging soul or personality that temporarily inhabits a body... - The living "ego" changes constantly - Live Now! - Accept yourself as you are now! - Nobody is ever blamed or ever praised - Since this "ego" is in any case only imagined, we can easily give it a stable and eternal nature - Our security need entices us to believe this. If the "ego" is the center of our world - the assumption of its transitoriness would make this whole world shaking - In short, we pay for the illusion of an unchanging "ego" by constantly having to work against our environment...
The water flows. We live (i.e. live = flow etc. - d.48)...
The last nightingale sings / in the thicket of young bamboo / a song of age... (Basho)
True insight does not arise from special knowledge, from belonging to exclusive circles, from doctrines and dogmas - It arises from preconscious perceptions of what we are in fact from our original wisdom...
No oil (see electricity etc. - d.48) to read more, so go to bed! - Ah! My moonlight pillow! (Basho)
You stupid scarecrow! Under your feet, the birds pick the rice! (Yayu)
I do not know their names, but every weed has its tender flower. (Sampu)
(P. Rawson / L. Legeza) Since "Zen" targets its view over the symbols out on the things themselves, it recognizes all our prejudices about skin color, gender, and ...
Taoism or Daoism is a type of belief, or a way of thinking about life. It is at least 2,500 years old and it comes from China. Taoism is now said to be a philosophy.
See also Zen for an overview of Zen, Chan Buddhism for the Chinese origins, and Sōtō, Rinzai and Ōbaku for the three main schools of Zen in Japan. Zen is the ...
Haiku (jap.
