dali48 and studying and playing chess and stopping smoking in the 70s...
13.03.1999 - Interpretation of dali48
In Japan one celebrates the 60th birthday - as a day of "rebirth"... (Kapleau)
Hitler came to power, and everything changed - The dreams of my childhood went up in smoke, and I saw the stark reality of the persecution - Stone by stone beat the Nazis out of the safe wall that surrounded me - Love and respect which we had enjoyed, disappeared, and we only knew loneliness and fear anymore - Without joy I withdrew into myself (see inner emigration - d.48) and spent most of the time reading (as I have done since 1989 etc. - d.48)... - The climax of the persecution of my family came on the devilish 9.11.1938 - as our house together with other Jewish houses was destroyed by hordes of drunken storm troops, my father was brutally beaten and dragged into a concentration camp - my mother was at that time in Berlin, and my sister and I, left to the desolation, remained trembling in the attic of our once beautiful house... - In the despair of my soul, I came across the first real prayer of my life: "God, help us!" - Without a penny, but full of pioneers, my family landed on 24.1.1939 with a ship in San Pedro, California. Miraculously, we had escaped from the noses of the Nazis - and thanks to the guarantees given by my mother's sister in Los Angeles, we hopefully began to live a new life...
