The Eyjafjallajökull paralyzes Europe! - Strong winds caused by the eruption of the Icelandic volcano, are driving a giant ash cloud over Europe! - Normally, the lava flows quietly from the Eyjafjallajökull. - This time however, water and magma connected to an explosive mixture! - Further eruptions can not be excluded! - There is danger but only for the air-traffic! ...
It is the first time in the history of European aviation, that such drastic measures were taken! - And though, from a volcanological point of view, this was a rather moderate eruption. - Normally, the Eyjafjallajökull who had last broken out in 1821, is one of the predictable volcanoes! -
Up to 11 km altitude, the ash cloud was ejected, fine dust particles may even rise up to a height of 20 km and orbit the earth! ...
On a scale of 0 to 8, such a 8 would be for a meltdown as the volcano under Yellowstone, and the Eyjafjallajökull would only get a modest 2! - What makes the eruption so special, are the strong winds which will first drive the approximately 200 x 100 km high ash cloud gradually to the east / southeast! ...
It could certainly happen that there will be ash dust on cars in some places of Germany, as this has been observed after the eruption of the volcano Mount St. Helens in the U.S. in 1981! ...
