In every training the ego is crushed! - Zen education promotes awareness - and it means that you concentrate on everything you do, try to make everything as good as possible - and are aware of your circumstances and the role you play in your environment - When suddenly an unforeseen situation arises - you know how to meet it, and can save others from it by saving yourself...
Old, sick, poor, oppressed, all who were somehow miserable - were kept away from the palace (see city center, etc. - d.48), and the prince only saw seductive women and happy young men...
The core of happiness is suffering, for we know that this will come to an end - Everything is temporal, everything will pass away, and cease to exist! - The only sure thing is death...
Suffering arises through desire, the desire to have and to be - The desire to have and to be can be overcome - The desire can be overcome by choosing the 8-fold way...
We do not consider that our body is only an empty shell that migrates into the garbage, the cemetery, the crematorium - The ego, the false I, which we drag around with us with so much trouble and feed it continuously, is a cloud form, and consists of snapshots from the baby till the old man...
What we did last year is irrelevant today - and what we are now doing - will be pointless and forgotten in one year...
