Spirit = human consciousness = a kind of universal mind, a transcendence, the highest principle from which the universe emerges with all its manifold movements! - The two concepts of spirit (hsin) and nature (hsing) are interchangeable ...
Neither word nor action - have anything to do with Zen ...
If not tense, no awakening - if not cornered, no breakthrough ...
The Zen faith is not a faith in the ordinary sense - since there is neither a subject nor an object in it. In Zen, faith is always creative! - Through him we live a new life at every moment! - There is nothing old, repeated in the world of Zen! - Consequently, Zen is not dominated by empty concepts, abstractions and generalizations ...
Be sure in your daily dealings with the external world - that these two characteristics, birth and death, are firmly imprinted on the tip of your nose to remind you that all things are perishable - and subject to everlasting change ...
