And people still understand very little of themselves and their own interests - which they call so lightly "anthropocentric", as if the polluting of the air (especially with car exhaust gases etc. - d.48) and the relentless looting of all resources (see the Club of Rome etc. - d.48) is actually "anthropocentric" - oriented towards the well-being and future of mankind - and not simply stupidity (see greed + environmental distress = indirect suicide on installments etc. - 48)... - It was the year 1943, and France had been occupied by the German Wehrmacht - The Nazis with whom Heidegger was sympathizing were Sartre's opponents when he joined the Resistance - The discussion with Heidegger, who still impressed him, is one of the hidden struggles in The Being and The Nothingness... - Philosophically convinced him (Sartre) the idea that there is nothing reliable - no higher power and no moral law in the people...
