The hardness with which Sartre eradicated everything that his predecessors had projected into man - and the emphasis on negative emotions are probably only understandable from the experience of war - Sartre's resistance to inertia and emptiness is correspondingly strong - There must be resistance (against the Nazis) and something new is to build...
Philosophically, this feeling manifests itself in Sartre's innumerable demands for action: "Man is what he accomplishes" - or "There is reality only in fact" (if it is positive, constructive, social, environmentally friendly, etc. - d.48)...
There is no excuse for people who are dreaming in nothingness - For they only flee from themselves and their responsibility - all this, according to Sartre, is self-deception (but still better than destructive deeds etc. - d.48)... (R.D. Precht)
