The Snow Dance Part 90... by Golden Snow + update
I found the silence of the apartment like music to my soul. I sat and took out my journal and began to plan what I could do to make the transaction easy for everyone. I know I would never return to Danny. I also knew he would never take this easy. I got up and made toast and cheese. I had forgotten supper the day before and felt a little sick. I really worried about my family. They would also be upset with my action but I had to stand my ground and get a bit of life back.
To obtain this a few would be hurt. But it would heal in time. They were all married and happy, and that was my first step forward. They had their own life, and now I wanted mine. I received a call from a friend, and she asked me to meet with a counsellor from AA. "I am not having trouble with drinking," I told her. "I know," she said, "please, he is a wonderful counsellor and will help you with fear and how to do things right because you can not be getting sick to your stomach everyday." "He is a recovering alcoholic for ten years, and he will help you." "I will set up a meeting for you, okay?" I reluctantly accepted, and she called back in about five minutes and said that they would be out that very evening. This seemed a little fast but since she would be with him, I agreed. I went to a near by beach and sat wrapped in my coat listening to the sounds of the sea, and the seagulls were crying out to each other. The ocean was wild and noisily. I watched the large waves dash against the shore leaving a large foam behind. I was remembering my mother saying that it was Mother Nature doing her wash... It made me smile. As I raised to go I threw my hands in the air and thanked the ocean for the refreshing sounds and smells. I stood feeling small and significant but for the first time I felt strong. I stayed and meditated for awhile relaxing into nothingness...
My soul felt renewed and ready for the meeting that night. I stopped at a fish and chip place and ordered, and it smelled so good that I felt hungry. I returned home about an hour before they were to come. So I showered and made a coffee waiting for their knock on the door. They were on time, and as I answered my friend gave me a big hug, and introduced the man beside her as Father MacDonald... I felt a little safer as she said: "I will leave you two and be back in awhile"...

see What is a Zen spirit? - Zen is defined as a state of calm where actions are guided by intuition rather than by conscious effort. The term comes from the Japanese pronunciation of the Chinese word Chan – with roots to the Indian practice of thinking and meditating known as Dhyana.

see Is Zen ok for Christians? - Because they are not on the same plane, Zen and Christianity do not conflict. Graham in his book, Zen Catholicism also points out that there is no harm in applying Zen insights into Catholicism.
see Does Zen believe in afterlife? - In Zen, Life and Death are one, a continuum, and they are not separated and there is no dividing line between them (as, indeed, there is actually no dividing line between anything, there only seems to be – divisions are arbitrary and made to enable us to function in the finite world, what Zen calls 'the world of form') ...10.03.2014
see How does Zen affect life? - Zen meditation reduces stress and anxiety by promoting relaxation and deep-breathing techniques. It helps people to manage their emotions, gain clarity of mind and experience deep peace and emotional well-being. The practice halts constant intrusive thoughts.09.05.2024
see What makes a person Zen? - They don't let stress, anger, or frustration get the better of them. According to the Cambridge Dictionary, the word “zen” refers to a person's ability to remain calm and relaxed in the face of difficulties and not worry about things out of their control.27.02.2021

The Snow Dance Part 89 ... by Golden Snow + update
There is something beyond power. The totality of one's being. Some call it nirvana. We have a higher destiny. Before you can scratch the surface, you have to bring your life into order. Our lives can move in many directions when we are faced with crisis. Post traumatic stress can claim us for many years... We do not realize what is happening and are blessed if we have someone who cares enough to give us help. When we come to a plateau in our life where a small bit of light appears, we have to be patient with ourselves because it is not an easy road ahead to find ourselves, and to get over the pain inflected upon us. We should ask ourselves, what hurts and needs repair, and why are we angry. There are so many things to overcome, things which most people find annoying. This can let them drop us behind. We are still weak in many areas. We have to start our journey of feeling we deserve better that we deserve to be happy, and we deserve to be loved.
Through the years the only spiritual outing which I had was my dancing. It was a meditation in itself. Never let anyone take away your right of meditation. When our lives fill with unhappiness, we can escape to our own little mountain where we can let ourselves be, and to love ourselves as much as we can at this point. Each change in our behaviour is a step toward the light. We can not judge what tomorrow will bring us. I only knew that I was where I was supposed to be. After many years I needed to be free, and I needed the feeling of just being. The music may not be exactly what we want but at least it's playing...

Yes, post-traumatic stress (PTSD) can indeed last for many years, and in some cases, even a lifetime. While some individuals recover within a few months, others experience persistent symptoms for years, and in some cases, even decades. The severity of symptoms can fluctuate over time, and individuals may experience periods of improvement followed by exacerbations triggered by reminders of the traumatic event or other life stressors.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
Symptoms can appear immediately or years later:
While symptoms of PTSD often appear within three months of a traumatic event, they can also emerge years later.
Duration varies:
Some people recover within six months, while others experience symptoms for a year or longer.
Chronic PTSD:
Untreated PTSD can become chronic, with symptoms persisting for decades.
Fluctuating symptoms:
Even with treatment, some individuals may experience a waxing and waning of symptoms over time, with periods of improvement followed by periods where symptoms intensify.
Triggers:
Reminders of the traumatic event, such as specific places, sounds, or smells, can trigger a return of symptoms.
Impact on daily life:
PTSD can significantly impact various aspects of a person's life, including work, relationships, and overall well-being.
Importance of treatment:
Effective treatments are available for PTSD, and seeking help, even years after the traumatic event, can make a significant difference.
Older adults and PTSD:
PTSD can also affect older adults, and life changes like retirement or health problems can trigger or exacerbate symptoms.

The foamy appearance of waves, often described as "Mother Nature doing her wash," is actually a natural phenomenon called sea foam. It's created when dissolved organic matter in the ocean, like proteins, fats, and decaying algae, gets churned up by the waves and surf. This agitation creates bubbles that trap the organic matter, resulting in the white, frothy foam we see.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
Dissolved Organic Matter:
The ocean contains various organic compounds, including proteins, fats, and decaying plant and animal matter.
Churning Action:
When waves break and the surf churns the water, it mixes the dissolved organic matter, creating bubbles.
Bubble Formation:
These bubbles trap the organic matter, forming a foam that can accumulate on the surface of the water and even wash ashore.
Natural Process:
While it might seem unusual, sea foam is a natural and common occurrence, particularly after storms or in areas with strong currents and wave action.
Not Always Harmful:
In most cases, sea foam is not harmful and is actually an indication of a healthy, productive ocean ecosystem, according to NOAA and GOV.UK blogs.
