It is clear that psychology cannot answer the question of the ego clearly and simply. It therefore only remains to ask the brain researchers who often have loudly reported and interfered in recent years...
The response of many (though not all) brain researchers to the question whether it is an ego, is: "No. There is no ego...
David Hume and Ernst Mach were absolutely right: “The ego is an illusion"… Even the famous anatomist Rudolf Virchow had his fun in the 19th Century in driving out the ego of the philosophers, when he said: "I have dissected 1000s of corpses, but I have nowhere found a soul”...
No well-known philosopher of the last 200 years has ever claimed that the ego is a material substance in the brain...
What Sacks could only describe more than 20 years ago, has since been investigated many times. Many brain researchers tend to believe it, that it is not an ego, but many different states of ego...
Already in the early embryo is created, the limbic system. After birth, the brain enters into contact with the outside world and will be totally revolutionized again... With the disenchantment of the ego it is such a thing. When Copernicus proved that the earth turns around the sun, he discovered a previously unknown fact. And this attempt - to make oneself is futile without the "solidarity" of others...
