At the age of 91 years - died now the Phantom of the World Literature: JD Salinger, who published nothing since 1965 - and has become world famous with his cult novel "The Catcher in the Rye" - About 60 million times, this work has been sold...

For his huge readership - however, the 91-year-old left the world much earlier - That was on 19 June 1965 - when the story "Hapworth 16, 1924" appeared in the "New Yorker". This was Salinger's last publication...

After that he preferred to say goodbye to the literary world - the readers, and to a considerable extent, also to the world - Downright spooky how he used this kind of rustic retreat: Since the mid-50s he lived with his family - in a forest cabin in Cornish, New Hampshire (see Civilization and "Flora and Fauna" since ca. 2000 etc. - d.48)... 

That does not describe the existence of a loner or hermit - but a militant rejection of something that we call civilization - Almost friendly, however, seems to be the film adaptation of his comic life "Forester - found" with Sean Connery in the title role...

"If you really want to hear this, then you probably want to know first - where I was born and what my lousy childhood was"...

His last public sign of life is 6 months old - when he prohibited the continuation of "The Catcher in the Rye" - The last show of strength against a world that does no longer think to recognize truth - in the original but in a copy... (Rhine Post, 29.01.2010)
