11.03.1999 - Interpretation of dali48

Blindness = delusion:
We see the world of phenomena as reality, while in reality it is a projection of ourselves - that causes us to act as if the world is outside of us...
The aim of the monastic Zen training is "Satori" = self-knowledge, bravery, modesty, gratitude, character, "Zazen, Sesshin", physical work and "Takuhatsu" - Sutra = guide...
Through our actions and "Karma" of immeasurable past - the "wheel of life" is set in motion and kept in motion by our attachment - which leads to an infinite cycle of births, deaths and rebirths to which we remain bound - The "enlightened" accept = see through their "karma" - and are therefore no longer bound by it - but they are bound to the causal law and can not escape the consequences of their actions. But they no longer sow (karmic) seeds because of their inner peace and their knowledge... - In Buddhism fishes symbolize, since they never sleep, the vigilance which is required on the way to the Buddha-hood... - "Ego", a self-reliance, from which follow thoughts like "I hate this, I love that, this is mine, and that is yours" - Nourished by such food, the ego dominates the soul and attacks everything that threatens its sovereignty - and is eager for everything that extends its power - Hostility, greed, and alienation that culminate in suffering are the inevitable consequence of this cycle... - If your passions are burning and your heart is unstable, what could be more dangerous than that? - Every 3-year-old child may well know this, but even for an old man of 80 years, it is difficult to practice this... - The beginning and the end of a world is a "birth" and a "death" - The greatness of each is conditioned by the power of the preceding ones, being the predecessors of the following ones - This process, endlessly repeated, is "birth-and-death" (samsara)... Dharma (Sanskrit) = Buddhist teaching... (Niao-k'e / Pai Lo-T'ien / DT Suzuki)
